Port Stephens ready to ring in 2023 with spectacular McGrath New Year's Eve fireworks display

Port Stephen

Bring the whole family to ring in 2023 and watch the bay come alive at the McGrath Port Stephens New Year's Eve Fireworks.

Port Stephens mayor Ryan Palmer says New Year's Eve is the perfect opportunity to reflect on 2022 and look forward to a new year as a community.

"Nelson Bay is known for its annual New Year's Eve fireworks display and we're so excited to keep the tradition going," Mayor Palmer said.

"It's great for our community to come together and celebrate the incredible place in which we live, work and play.

"After the ups and downs of the past few years, I'm sure everyone's ready to come together again, welcoming tourists back to our region, and bringing in the new year with a bang!" he added.

McGrath Port Stephens Principal Daniel O'Meara says that as long term locals, now operating under a new name, the team at McGrath Port Stephens are excited to be the major sponsor of this year's fireworks spectacular.

"We hope that local residents and visitors all enjoy a great family orientated night and a fantastic fireworks display," Mr O'Meara said.

Enjoy festivities all day, with D'Albora Marina at Nelson Bay offering a program of live entertainment starting at midday or grab a picnic blanket, buy some local takeaway and settle into one of the many viewing points along the Nelson Bay foreshore.

The fireworks display starts at 9pm, with road closures in place between 8pm and 9.45pm to facilitate safe and easy passage for patrons.

This an alcohol free, family friendly event for all to enjoy and celebrate bringing in a healthier and happier New Year.

This event is possible thanks to funding from the NSW Government's Reconnecting Regional NSW grant, McGrath Port Stephens and D'Albora Marina.
