Campaspe Shire Council is inviting the Tongala community to help shape the future renewal of the Potts Village Green play space.
Through this engagement, Council is seeking feedback on how people use the space and what play opportunities they would like to see provided in the future. Community input will help guide the development of a draft concept design for the site.
The project will be funded through the Golden Cow Fund, which provides financial support for community projects and initiatives that enhance local facilities, activities and opportunities for Tongala residents.
The play space renewal has been identified as a priority project through the extensive community consultation undertaken as part of the Tongala Place Based Plan, which was endorsed by Council in June 2023.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the existing play space no longer meets contemporary standards as outlined in Council's Play Space Development Policy, and the concept planning process would explore opportunities to create a contemporary, inclusive and engaging play space that better meets the needs of the Tongala community.
"Through this project, Council will investigate opportunities to improve accessibility, safety and play value while creating a space that encourages recreation, social connection and positive health and wellbeing outcomes. The concept plan will consider a diverse range of play experiences, landscaping and supporting amenities to ensure the space caters to a broad range of ages and abilities."
Cr Mackrell said community input would play a key role in shaping the future of the play space.
"Council will undertake a comprehensive engagement program with local residents including children and families, schools and community groups to better understand community aspirations and priorities for the site."
Community members are encouraged to complete the online survey via Council's new engagement platform Campaspe Connect.
