Premier's Children and Youth Fund Now Accepting Applications

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is increasing children and young people's participation in recreational and social activities through a $500,000 grant program with applications for the Premier's Fund for Children and Young People now open.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the grant program responds to the voices of the children and young people who wrote to him during the consultation to develop Tasmania's Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy – It Takes a Tasmanian Village.

"The Tasmanian Liberal Government listens to the voices of children and young people; through this fund we can support actions that directly respond to what children and young people say is needed in their communities.

"Individual grants of up to $30,000 are available, from a funding pool of $500,000."

The previous round of the Premier's Fund for Children and Young People provided 41 organisations a share in almost $1.5 million funding for important projects, including skate parks, pump tracks, playground improvements, after school activities, youth programs, excursions for children with disabilities, and programs for Aboriginal and multicultural youth.

"Our Government is delivering for all Tasmanians by investing in the projects that matter to our communities," the Premier said.

Eligible applicants include incorporated associations, not for profit community organisations, local government councils, independent schools and Parents and Friends Associations of government schools.

Successful applicants are required to link their proposals to a community need identified by children and young people, and to engage in ongoing consultation with children and young people around the planning and design of infrastructure or social activities.

The grant program is open until October 2, 2023, with successful applicants notified before the end of the year.
