Hollywood Private Hospital has completed the final part of a $200 million project that gives patients access to an extensive range of healthcare services in one location.

The Perth facility is now home to Western Australia's second private emergency department (ED) - and the first on the north side of the Swan River.

The $67 million development features six levels, three new wards, 13 treatment bays including an isolation room, a triage assessment room, a resuscitation room, and a spacious waiting lounge area.

It opened to private and public patients on Monday 1 November 2021, and is one of 11 EDs operated in Australia by Ramsay Health Care.

"The private ED delivers more choice for patients and will help reduce pressure on our state's health system," said Minister for Health Roger Cook, who helped unveil the new facility.

"It is important the people of Western Australia have diversified healthcare options.

"I congratulate Ramsay Health Care for this $67 million ED development and by investing $200 million into Hollywood Private Hospital over the course of five years.

"This significant investment will help meet the healthcare needs of residents today and well into the future."

With an additional 60 inpatient beds now available in the wards above the ED, and the capacity to open a further 30 beds, Hollywood Private has expanded to 900-plus licensed beds and is the largest hospital in Western Australia.

Owner Ramsay Health Care has extensively redeveloped the Nedlands campus over the past five years - patients who present to the ED will have easy access to a range of medical, surgical and allied health services.

"The $48 million Hollywood Consulting Centre opened last year and brings together a suite of cancer services under one roof," hospital CEO Peter Mott said.

"Our very successful cardiothoracic surgery service was also launched last year and there was a major expansion of our mental health services around the same time."
