PSPA Emergency Declaration Declared At Gympie

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a shots fired incident on the Bruce Highway in Coles Creek this afternoon, May 9.

Police were called just after 12.15pm to reports shots were fired towards the Bruce Highway, adjacent to Maher Road.

At this time there have been no reports of any injuries.

An exclusion zone has been established while police respond, encompassing Maher Road and both directions of the Bruce Highway adjacent to Maher Road.

Residents within the exclusion zone are asked to stay indoors and members of the public and motorists to avoid the area.
