Penrith City Council is seeking community input as it undertakes an overland flow flood study for the Cambridge Park and Jordan Springs area, with a questionnaire open from Monday 27 July 2026 to Monday 24 August 2026.
The study area includes parts of Cambridge Gardens, Cambridge Park, Jordan Springs, Llandilo, Werrington County and Werrington Downs.
Council is encouraging residents and business owners within the study area who have experienced flooding to share their local knowledge and first-hand experiences. This information will play an important role in improving understanding of how flooding behaves across the catchment.
The flood study will examine overland flood behaviour, identify existing flood issues and provide a foundation for future flood risk management planning.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the study reflects Council's commitment to strengthening community safety and resilience through improved flood management.
"This study is about learning directly from the people who live and work in the catchment," Cr Carney said.
"Local knowledge helps Council understand what happens on the ground during heavy rain and where flood impacts are felt most. That insight is critical when we are planning practical solutions that protect people, property and essential services."
Council has engaged Catchment Simulation Solutions Pty Ltd, an independent consultancy specialising in flood modelling, to prepare the study.
The project is overseen by the Penrith Floodplain Risk Management Committee and is supported by funding and technical assistance from the NSW Government through the Floodplain Management Program.
