The Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer and delivering vital support for small and family businesses across the State, with 62 businesses awarded funding under the latest round of the Secure Communities Partnership Program.

The $40 million program is part of the Crisafulli Government's plan to restore safety where you live and end Labor's soft-on-crime approach during their decade of decline.

The small businesses sharing in this round of funding represent a diverse range of industries, including retail trade, accommodation and food services, and health care and social assistance.

More than half of successful applicants through Round 2 are investing in surveillance and detection systems, with others focusing on improving access control and entry management, implementing physical security measures, and upgrading alarm systems or enhancing lighting and environmental security.

Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minnikin said the Crisafulli Government was making Queensland safer and supporting small and family businesses.

"This program empowers local small businesses to take proactive steps to protect their livelihoods, employees, and customers, while contributing to safer communities across Queensland," Minister Minnikin said.

"I'm proud that two-thirds of funding in this release has been awarded to small businesses based in regional Queensland, ensuring support reaches every corner of our state."

Member for Rockhampton Donna Kirkland welcomed funding to support three local businesses including local fishing tackle outlet Barra Jacks with additional cameras and monitoring technology.

"Whether you're a tackle shop, accountant or marketing company, targeted funding for crime prevention measures is helping to build stronger, safer communities across the state," Mrs Kirkland said.

"I've seen the benefits of the action being taken by the Crisafulli Government, including steps to tackle crime right here in Rockhampton.

"When small businesses and their staff are safe, they can focus on what they do best, which is serving their communities, creating jobs, and driving Queensland's economy forward."

This release of funding follows the success of Round 1 of the program, which saw $9.6 million awarded for 42 projects delivered in partnership with local councils to improve safety and security for local small business.

The current round of funding for small and family businesses is open for application until 30 June 2026 or until funding is fully allocated.
