Queensland life sciences innovation receives boost

The Queensland Government has announced a three-year extension of the Johnson & Johnson Innovation Partnering Office at QUT (JJIPO @ QUT), providing an additional boost to commercialisation of local healthcare solutions.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made the announcement as delegates arrived for this week’s AusBiotech National Conference in Brisbane.

A joint initiative of the Queensland Government, Johnson & Johnson Innovation and QUT, JJIPO @ QUT was launched in 2016 as part of the $650 million Advance Queensland initiative to nurture research and commercialisation in the state’s life sciences sector.

Located at QUT’s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, JJIPO @QUT works with emerging healthcare companies and academic researchers across the state, providing commercialisation training, mentoring and networking support to accelerate translational life science research along the path to commercialisation.

QUT Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Margaret Sheil said QUT was committed to developing its research for the global innovation value chain, and considered JJIPO @ QUT an asset for all Queensland institutions and entrepreneurs to access and use to accelerate Queensland healthcare technology.
