Royal Darwin Hospital is also experiencing a high number of presentations following the long weekend, which has resulted in extended wait times at the Emergency Department.
To manage the situation, a range of measures are being implemented to ease pressure and improve patient flow, including redeploying staff and rescheduling some elective surgeries that require ICU support. These measures will continue to be reviewed and adapted to alleviate the situation.
