Photographers, artists, writers and storytellers with a passion for nature can now enter the revamped Macarthur Nature Competition and celebrate the native plant and wildlife species of the region.
The competition is open to people of all ages and abilities, including primary and high school students, adults and professionals.
It is a joint initiative of Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Councils and combines the former Macarthur Nature Photography Competition and Threatened Species Art and Writing Competition.
"The Macarthur region features a rich variety of plant and animal life that is important to learn about and conserve," Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said.
"This new competition will engage local schools, passionate students and nature enthusiasts to spread awareness about local conservation efforts, sustainability and reducing human impact on the local ecosystem while showcasing local creative talent," Cr Lound said.
This year's competition themes include Caring for Country, Animals and Pollinators and Australian Native Plants and Landscapes.
Categories include:
- Artwork (drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital illustration)
- Photography (wildlife, habitat, macro, landscape, urban biodiversity)
- Creative Writing (poetry, short story, persuasive or creative writing)
The competition closes Friday 26 June.
