Revitalising Our CBD - Austin Lane Complete

The Territory Labor Government is transforming Darwin's CBD with infrastructure works in Austin Lane to bring in more visitors and locals now completed.

The Northern Territory Government has delivered this project in partnership with the Australian Government and the City of Darwin through a 10-year, $200 million Darwin City Deal.

Austin Lane has two new covered walkways, newly planted trees, seating and the kerbing has been upgraded. This will make it easier for commuters travelling between Cavenagh Street, Austin Lane and the Smith Street Mall.

Local business PTM Group delivered the works, which supported more than 40 local jobs.

Consultation has begun with property owners and businesses in the area on the design and construction of additional infrastructure and services to support community activities and events in Austin Lane and Spain Place, such as street parties and festivals.

These works form part of a broader vision for a cooler, revitalised CBD that includes the Civic and State Square Masterplan Redevelopment, which will unlock further areas for the whole community to enjoy.

To complement this, works on the native garden landscape above the State Square Underground Car Park have also started.

All of these works are about making the CBD a better place to work in and visit, and we're creating jobs along the way.
