Rural Issues Conference Diary Note

NSW Law Society

The Honourable Melinda Pavey MP, Minister for Water, Property and Housing will deliver the keynote address at the 2019 Law Society of NSW Rural Issues Conference on Friday 25 October 2019.

The Rural Issues Conference will focus on the unique issues affecting solicitors in rural areas, including farm debt, rural succession planning and the impact of climate change on the legal profession.

Around 12 per cent of the state's 34,000 solicitors live and work outside of our cities; more than one in five sole practitioners is based in the country.

Currently, NSW is experiencing one of the most severe droughts on record. The Central West, Far West and North West regions are the worst affected to date. The economic impact of the drought on our regional communities is enormous, extending way beyond the farmer's gate.
