Rushworth Streetscape Stage 5 and 6 Works Begin in Campaspe Shire

Rushworth

Stage 5 and 6 of the Rushworth Streetscape project are scheduled to begin on 19 February, and will see road pavement works taking place on both the east and west sides of High Street.

The road pavement works provide a much needed upgrade in Rushworth and will fill existing potholes and other road hazards along the road surface in High Street.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Rob Amos said the works in these stages will see High Street closed in sections over a period of 5 to 6 weeks, and while there will be some inconvenience, the end result will complete the Rushworth CBD streetscape works.

"Each side of High Street will be closed to traffic while the road is being repaved. The lane along the west side of the street will be paved and completed first, followed by the east side of High Street. Only one side of High Street will be constructed at a time to provide some vehicle movement and parking.

"During this time, there will be detour routes in place for residents. Temporary parking will still be available along Parker Street.

"Residents should also be aware that during the road pavement works on the east side of High Street the best parking for IGA will be along Wigg Street and the service station will not be accessible from High Street. There won't be access for pedestrians and vehicles to cross the street from one side to the other, except on Moora Road and Wigg Street, please be aware and park accordingly.

"Fencing and signage will be installed during these works. Please observe and obey all signage.

"We appreciate the community being so understanding over the last few months. Thank you for being patient as the last of the works takes place on this important streetscape for Rushworth.

"Importantly, works are still expected to be completed prior to the much loved Easter Heritage Festival, pending any major weather disruptions" Cr Amos added.

The stages of the redevelopment have been updated based on the progress achieved to date and are now as follows:

  • Stage 1 – Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street from Wigg Street to Bendigo Bank – Complete.
  • Stage 2 – Footpath and kerb works on the western side of High Street from Bendigo Bank to the north side of the Railway Line – Complete.
