The Sandia Science & Technology Park is celebrating 25 years of economic growth with an open house and public showcase.
The 340-acre park, which opened in 1998, is home to many of New Mexico's fastest growing companies and serves as a hub for public-private partnerships. With its location just outside the gates of Kirtland Air Force Base and the campus of Sandia National Laboratories, companies have easy access to facilities, technologies and the innovative minds that make up Sandia.
Currently, 40 companies occupy the park and collectively employ nearly 1,800 people. These include cutting-edge technology companies, both startups and established corporations. The park is also home to Sandia organizations, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History and several schools, including the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Technology Leadership High School.
In its 25-year history, companies within the park have paid out $7.2 billion in wages and salaries, generated $4 billion worth of taxable consumer spending and produced $166.1 million in tax revenue for the State of New Mexico and $36.6 million for the City of Albuquerque.
Thirty exhibitors will be on-site to share information, along with food trucks and speakers. The media is invited to network and tour some technology park companies, including aerospace manufacturer Rocket Lab and BioFlyte, a biothreat security company.

Sandia Labs has major research and development responsibilities in nuclear deterrence, global security, defense, energy technologies and economic competitiveness, with main facilities in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Livermore, California.
