Science For Climate Action Centers Evidence In Policy

Belém do Pará - Ahead of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), the Science for Climate Action Pavilion reaffirms its commitment to strengthening dialogue between science, the public and private sectors, and civil society, in order to inform global climate action and address the planet's most pressing environmental challenges.

Science for Climate Action Pavilion at COP30 is a joint effort led by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), with the support of the MERI Foundation -the climate arm of Philanthropy Cortés Solari- and the Université Côte d'Azur.

Its objective is to strengthen scientific diplomacy within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) by generating evidence-based knowledge, fostering international scientific cooperation, and promoting constructive dialogue among governments, the scientific community, the private sector, and civil society.

In the context of the triple planetary crisis - climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution - this initiative seeks to ensure that multilateral decisions and public policies are grounded in the best available science, driving integrated, equitable, and sustainable solutions.

During COP30, the Science for Climate Action Pavilion, located in the Blue Zone, will serve as a meeting point between science and policy. Throughout the summit, the Pavilion will host over 45 side events, including high-level panels, roundtables, immersive workshops, and scientific report launches, featuring more than 200 experts and international representatives from governments, multilateral organizations, academia, local communities, and the private sector.

All events will be livestreamed via the Science for Climate Action Pavilion website , expanding access to and dissemination of scientific knowledge worldwide.

In this way, Science for Climate Action Pavilion is affirming itself as a strategic platform to communicate science related to climate change, promote evidence-based decision-making, , advancing a more resilient and sustainable future for people and ecosystems around the world.
