Search continues to locate missing man from Queensland - Tweed/Byron

Police continue to appeal for public assistance as the search to locate a Queensland man, believed to be missing in NSW, continues.

William (Billy) Dilworth, aged 66, was last seen at his Pimpama home about 2.30pm on Wednesday 5 October 2022.

When he could not be located, he was reported missing to the Queensland Police Service the following day.

Inquiries have revealed Mr Dilworth may have been in the Doon Doon area, 40km south-west of Tweed Heads, and officers from Tweed/Byron Police District have commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police and family hold serious concerns for his welfare as he lives with dementia and requires daily medication.

Billy is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 178cm tall, of medium build and has grey hair.

He was last seen wearing a white jumper and black pants.

A coordinated multi-agency land and air search of the Doon Doon and Byrrill Creek areas commenced on Thursday (6 October 2022), which has continued for several days.

Local police have been assisted by the Dog and Mounted unit, Police Rescue, Queensland PolAir, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW State Emergency Service, Volunteer Rescue Association, and the Westpac Helicopter Service.
