Seniors Approve Lite N' Easy Meals in Nutrition Survey

Lite n' Easy

Older Australians simply love healthy ready-made meals and are reaping the rewards, according to a landmark survey from Lite n' Easy.

Lite n' Easy recently surveyed customers aged 65 and over who receive government funding for subsidised meals through the Commonwealth Home Care Package, as it was known at the time, and now known as Support at Home. The survey explored a range of health and wellbeing considerations relating to nutrition.

If you receive Support at Home funding, your plan may cover up to 70% of the cost of meal preparation and delivery*. You'll simply pay the remaining 30% upfront to Lite n' Easy.

Results from the survey include:

  • 89 per cent of customers believe their quality of life has improved since starting Lite n' Easy.
  • 80 per cent of customers rated their health 7+ (out of 10) since ordering Lite n' Easy, compared to 51 per cent beforehand.
  • 56 per cent of customers said their appetite has reduced with age.
  • 61 per cent of customers said they have difficulty cooking meals for themselves.
  • 31 per cent of customers said they have difficulty shopping for ingredients to cook with.

Lite n' Easy CEO Nathan Hayman said the survey results are a powerful reminder of the need to cater for older Australians who want to live independently and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

"The results speak for themselves – customers love ready-made meals and the improvements they bring to their health and wellbeing," Mr Hayman said.

"Many older Australians want to live independently and eat well but find it difficult due to the challenge of cooking and shopping for food.

"We take the hassle out of this by offering convenience and making life easier for customers.

"Thousands of Australians use their Support at Home funding to access a range of Lite n' Easy meals, which saves them time and money.

"We have an ageing population, and it is important that older people have choice and access to affordable and healthy food."

*Funding arrangements vary, so interested customers should check with their Support at Home provider to confirm eligibility and any other co-contributions that may apply.
