Shellharbour Celebrates Youth Week 2026

Shellharbour City Council is excited to celebrate NSW Youth Week 2026 (16-26 April) with a fantastic line-up of free and fun activities for young people aged 12-24.

Youth Week spotlights our young people's creativity, ideas and community spirit, and this year's program once again brings opportunities to connect, learn, express and celebrate.

Activities funded by the NSW Government happening across Shellharbour, include dance lessons, DJ workshop, boxing/kickboxing and more.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said Youth Week is a special opportunity for young people to feel seen, supported and celebrated.

"Youth Week is a time to recognise the imagination, energy and talent of our young people," he said.

"It's a chance for them to express themselves, try new things, and be part of our vibrant community."

This year's theme, "Dream. Dare. Do.", encourages young people to imagine bold futures, take brave steps toward their goals, and turn their ideas into action.

The Youth Art & Design Exhibition is currently on display at the Shellharbour Civic Centre throughout April.

The exhibition showcases impressive works from local emerging artists, including painting, digital art, photography, sculpture and more.

The exhibition will also provide the backdrop for the official launch of Youth Week on Thursday 16 April.

"We are fortunate to have such passionate and inspiring young people in Shellharbour," Mayor Homer said.

"I encourage all young people, and the broader community to get involved in this year's program."

Youth Week began in NSW in 1989 and has since grown into a national celebration. Organised by young people, for young people, it's a chance to share ideas, get creative, and speak up on important issues.
