The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) hosted a delegation from the Institute of Economic Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS). The visit aimed at fostering collaboration and in-depth discussions on key economic models and research areas.
The delegation, led by SAS Institute of Economic Research Director Miroslav Štefánik, engaged in an extensive program designed to facilitate knowledge exchange and identify potential avenues for joint research initiatives. With a focus on economic research areas, this meeting served to discuss macroeconomic models developed and used by both organizations and was a follow-up of prior introductory visit of IIASA representatives to the Slovak Academy of Sciences in January this year.
IIASA Interim Deputy Director for Science, Wolfgang Lutz, and Head of Communications and External Relations, Barbara Kreissler, opened the meeting and handed over to SAS Institute of Economic Research Director, Miroslav Štefánik, who gave an overview of the models used at the institute with a focus on the Slovak Labour Market Model - SLAMM. Representatives of IIASA research programs, including Economic Frontiers Program Director, Michael Kuhn, Population and Just Societies Program Senior Research Scholar, Michaela Potančoková, Exploratory Modeling of Human-natural Systems Research Group Leader in the Advancing Systems Analysis Program, Sebastian Poledna, Population and Just Societies Program Research Scholar Guillaume Marois, and Advancing Systems Analysis Program Research Scholar, Nikita Strelkovskii, presented insights into IIASA research covering topics such as demographic modeling, human-natural systems, and the future of economic frontiers and its collaborative potential with the SAS.
The collaborative spirit displayed during the visit is expected to yield impactful contributions to the field of applied systems analysis and economic research, marking the beginning of a strengthened partnership between IIASA and the SAS Institute of Economic Research.
