COVID cases in SA

There have been 2,767 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 23,295 active cases in South Australia.

SA Health can confirm one woman in her 50s, a man in his 70s, and two men in their 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 335 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 10 people in ICU and one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 206 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 111 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 18 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 14.8% of samples analysed were BA.2, 16.3% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 68.1% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 8,584 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 22.1% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,496 PCR tests were positive, while 1,271 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
