COVID cases in SA

There have been 406 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 3,647 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 90s who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 100 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including nine people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 76 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 19 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and five have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 3.1% of samples analysed were BA.2, 3.1% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 91.8% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 2,066 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 38.6% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 158 PCR tests were positive, while 248 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.2% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.3% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.9% of eligible South Australians and 70.8% of South Australians aged 16+.
