South Australian to Spoil Mum After Saturday Lotto Win

A resident of Whyalla Norrie is planning an elaborate celebration for his mother, all thanks to his significant win of $730,000 in the Saturday X Lotto over the weekend. This act of love is to show his immense appreciation for everything she's done for him.

The South Australian man was among the seven lucky participants to win the division one prize in the Saturday X Lotto, during the draw 4405 on Saturday, 7 October 2023. The total amount he secured was $738,668.19.

Interestingly, the ticket that brought him this fortune was not registered under any player card or online account. As a result, lottery officials had no means to reach out to him directly and had been waiting for the winner to come forward.

Speaking about the win, he shared his initial hesitation to celebrate until he had official confirmation.

"Honestly, I’ve been holding off getting excited until the money is in my account," he admitted.

The story behind the winning ticket makes the victory even sweeter. The ticket was a birthday gift from his mother.

"My mum bought me this ticket for my birthday last week," he recalled. When he called her with the news, she found it hard to believe initially.

Expressing his gratitude and plans for the prize money, he said,

"I’m going to help my mum and spoil her rotten – she’s my heartbeat, she’s everything to me. I wouldn’t have had a great birthday if it wasn’t for her, so I look forward to giving back to her."

The winning ticket was sourced from George Avenue Deli, situated at 77 George Avenue in Whyalla Norrie. Lorna-Jane Anderson, the owner of the deli, expressed her joy at the news of a local claiming the prize. She fondly remembered other significant wins from her outlet in the past.

The numbers that sealed the win in the Saturday X Lotto draw 4405 were 18, 23, 25, 37, 28, and 35, with the supplementary numbers being 16 and 8.

Nationwide, the draw produced seven division one winners: three each from South Australia and Victoria, and a single winner from Western Australia.
