Thousands of students will celebrate their achievements this week as the University of Southampton holds its winter graduation ceremonies in the city centre.
A total of 4,757 students are graduating, with about 2,000 of them attending the ceremonies in the O2 Guildhall Southampton on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday [16-18 December].
The majority of the students are postgraduates who have completed their Master's or PhD studies, whilst about 10 per cent are undergraduates celebrating their degrees.
All five of the University's faculties are involved in the celebrations, with Social Sciences on Tuesday, Environmental and Life Sciences plus Engineering and Physical Sciences as well as Medicine on Wednesday, and Arts and Humanities, including Winchester School of Art, on Thursday.
Ceremonies will take place in the O2 Guildhall, followed by receptions in One Guildhall Square.
Professor Mark E. Smith, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Southampton, said: "I would like to extend my congratulations to all our students who are graduating this week. We are extremely proud of your hard work, your determination and your success. We wish you all every success as you move forward with your careers.
"I would also like to express my thanks to our talented and dedicated university staff who have taught and supported our students through their studies."
