Explore the nooks in nature at EDGE GreenWay 2023
Inner West Council is excited to invite everyone to discover arts and culture within our vibrant green corridor throughout EDGE GreenWay 2023.
Explore a captivating program of free performances, installations and workshops.
Artists are currently occupying seven shipping containers along Hawthorne Canal in Leichhardt, developing their work while immersed in the sights and sounds of GreenWay.
Witness their ideas evolve daily and then explore a remarkable spectrum of workshops and performances across two special weekends - 13 & 14 and 20 & 21 May.
Inner West Mayor, Darcy Byrne said: "Since premiering in 2019, EDGE has cemented itself as an exciting activation in Sydney's cultural calendar."

All-comers are encouraged to bring their pals, pooches and picnic rugs to participate in EDGE. Create your own fishy friend from clay, listen to local live music, gaze at acrobats exploring historical heights, contribute to a mobile maritime museum, discover illuminated creatures and more.
One of the most remarkable workshops will be Songs of the GreenWay by Studio Lu/Lu.
The Three Amigos had a singing bush and EDGE GreenWay has singing trees! Well, not quite, but it is amazing.
The studio is inviting people to explore the spectrum of sound that exists outside the range of human hearing, by using contact microphones and hydrophones to capture the sounds of the Greenway.
The team at Studio Lu/Lu are a collective among many shipping container artists and will be turning up the volume over both weekends.
You can let your imagination flow at The People's Maritime Museum at container five.
Monty Hancock will lead a mission to gather curiosities from the local area, which make up a pop-up museum showcasing reimagined stories of how these objects arrived at the Greenway.
At container six, big kids will be adorned with wearable art while relaxing into the freedom of adult play in a jovial activation by Samantha Thompson.
The Sydney Trapeze School take over container eight and put on a display of intergenerational circus talent, showing the support needed to take a leap of faith in a new performance!
You can sculpt raw clay and create a school of fish on the canal at Jayanto Tan and Diamando Koutsellis' Flying Green Fish, highlighting environmental impacts and fish species' habitat.
If you don't want to get your hands dirty, how about helping make 1000 cards capturing the natural environment of the GreenWay with Georgina Evans.
Night owls can explore the GreenWay after dark, discovering Yanti Peng's illuminated native fauna and curious creatures.
Try Urban Foraging with Gabriel from Ziggy's Wildfoods. Ziggy will take you on a tour of the GreenWay and discover the edible plants found in the urban environment.
For something a little heartier, check out Café Bones and the Wanderers Clubhouse – and remember to bring your keep cup, water bottle and picnic rug.
The live music shipping container stage will be jumping with intergenerational talent taking over across both weekends.
Performances include Asphodel Trio, Mangrove Swamp, Taylor B-W, Miau, Jay Squire, Sunset Place, David Fonteyn, The Nancy Denis Show, Sammy Honeysett, Satelite, Solidarity Choir, House of Monkeys, Memphis Cats, Salonistas and local legends Stiff Gins.
