State Government continue to support those in need with more meal deliveries

  • RAC Arena, Optus Stadium and VenuesWest have worked together to donate more than 20,000 packaged meals
  • The State Government is committed to supporting those in need by partnering with local charities
  • The meals will be delivered by long-time partner, OzHarvest WA
  • Chefs from Optus Stadium, RAC Arena and VenuesWest have come together to produce 20,000 packaged meals to be distributed by OzHarvest to those who need it most.

VenuesWest, on behalf of the State Government, redeployed RAC Arena and HBF Stadium's full-time kitchen teams to Optus Stadium last month to assist with the preparation of individual frozen meals which are valued at $55,000.

The meals will go to people across our State including those in need associated with Church of the Way and Salvation Army in Mandurah and Albany, as well as Feed the Children in Broome.

There are three options of packaged food: roast beef and gravy with olive oil mash potatoes and vegetables; chicken in a tomato, basil and mushroom sauce with mash potato and vegetables; and vegetarian fried rice with broccoli and egg.

The meals are designed to be consumed by a broad range of people and cater for dietary requirements, intolerances and religious beliefs.

It follows the State Government's donation of more than $70,000 worth of food and beverages from Optus Stadium in April.

If you are a commercial business with surplus food, please consider donating to such charities as OzHarvest and The Salvation Army.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

"In just over a month Optus Stadium, RAC Arena and VenuesWest have again shown their community spirit by working directly with charities to provide food to many Western Australians who are struggling at the moment.

"It is important as we enter the recovery phase of COVID-19 that we continue to think of innovative ways to create and maintain jobs as well as help those in the community who are most vulnerable.

"Charities continue to do critical work in our community, so if you have surplus food please consider donating to such charities as OzHarvest and The Salvation Army."
