A group called "Uni for Palestine München" has announced that on Thursday, 30 July 2026, it intends to declare an LMU building a "Liberated Study Zone" and, "as anti-Zionists and pro-Palestinians (...)," to create "safer spaces (...)." The security authorities assume that there is some overlap in personnel between the organizers and groups monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Activism against Israel is expected to take place that is explicitly and confrontationally directed at researchers, teaching staff, and students with actual or perceived links to Israel.
LMU is a place for open and sometimes controversial debate. However, it cannot allow Jewish teaching staff and students, individuals with links to Israel, or even those not directly involved, to no longer experience LMU as a safe space. The University and its Executive Board stand opposed to all activities that, under the guise of criticism of Israel's military strategy, ultimately aim to declare LMU a "Jew-free" space.
LMU distances itself from these activities in the strongest possible terms and calls on the organizers not to enter any LMU premises and not to disturb campus peace. Should antisemitic statements be made or actions take place, the Executive Board will have them stopped immediately and take appropriate action. The security authorities have been informed.
