Strike Force Kincora Charges Man, Seizes Cannabis and Weapon

A man has been charged for allegedly cultivating prohibited plants and possessing illegal weapon in state's southern region.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District established Strike Force Kincora to investigate the cultivation of cannabis in the area.

Following inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a property on Boorga Road, Lake Wyangan, approximately 11km north from Griffith, about 10.45am on Wednesday (25 October 2023), before they arrested the 40-year-old man.

During the search warrant, police seized a total of 56 cannabis plants along with 7.5kg of cannabis leaf, two knives, one taser disguised as a mobile phone, a baton, and number of cultivation equipment.

He was taken to Griffith Police Station where he was charged with three counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, supply prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity, possess prohibited drug, and cultivate cannabis more than indictable and less than commercial quantity.

He appeared at Griffith Local Court on Thursday 26 October 2023 where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 21 December 2023.
