Police are reminding drivers of significant road closures and special event clearways, in and around the Sydney CBD, as the Sydney WorldPride 2023 festival wraps up tomorrow.
One of the state's most iconic landmarks will be lit up in colour as up to 50,000 people make their way to North Sydney to participate in the Sydney WorldPride 2023 Pride March across the Sydney Harbour Bridge tomorrow morning (Sunday 5 March 2023).
Marking the final day of the 17-day festival, the march will start at 7am and will head across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, ending at The Domain and Hyde Park North.
Police are continuing to work very closely with festival organisers and LGBTIQ+ communities to ensure that the upcoming events are safe and fun for the entire community.
Operation WorldPride 2023 Commander, Assistant Commissioner Tony Cooke says police have been working closely with event organisers and other key stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of participants, spectators, volunteers, and the wider community throughout the event.
"Road users and local residents are reminded there will be a number of major road closures in the CBD and surrounding suburbs in order to facilitate this event. However, we will also work to minimise the impact of the event on the wider community."
Major road closures include the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Warringah Freeway, Cahill Expressway, and Macquarie Street.
"The Sydney Harbour Bridge, as well as roads in North Sydney and the Sydney CBD, will start closing from 4am," Assistant Commissioner Cooke said.
"Road users are reminded the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Anzac Bridge will remain open during the event; however, you should allow extra travel time and expect delays."
Motorists should also check signage before parking, as special event clearways will be in place between 1am and 1.30pm in the Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Pyrmont, Darlinghurst and Moore Park.
Vehicles left in these special event clearways, including those with local parking permits, will be towed and a fee will apply.

"We urge motorists and residents to be aware of parking restrictions and plan their travel in advance. If you must travel into the Sydney CBD, expect significant delays," Assistant Commissioner Cooke said.
"Participants should also take advantage of public transport when travelling to and from the event as travel is covered by their entry – just present your wristband."
