Szmulewicz Discusses Chilean Wine Tourism and Territorial Planning

The Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel Studies (ESHTE), in partnership with the World Association of Wine Tourism (AMETUR), the International Wine Law Association (AIDV) and the European Network of Wine Cities (RECEVIN) organized, in Portugal, from October 22 to 25, 2023, a very interesting Congress dedicated to Wine Tourism and the Law.

This Congress brought together tourism and law experts from many countries, and was held in different locations in Portugal. Esteban Szmulewicz, PhD Candidate at the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law, had the honor of participating, as a panelist, in this Congress, on October 24th 2023.

His presentation focused on the following subject: "Territorial planning and wine tourism in Chile", analyzing both the current centralized state of legislation and management of territorial planning in Chile, as well as recent development towards a more sustainable and holistic concept of territorial planning, much more coherence with the proper long term development of wine tourism. Also, special emphasis was giving on decentralization of tasks in this domain as well as proper multilevel coordination.
