Calling for nominations for the Logan Urban Design Awards.
Economic Development Chair Councillor Jon Raven, and Councillor Scott Bannan visit Jimboomba Central shopping centre, which won the top award at the last Logan Urban Design Awards.

The 'wow factor' is among the key criteria the judging panel considers when choosing the winners of the Logan Urban Design Awards (LUDA).

Nominations are now open for the 2023 awards, which will recognise outstanding urban design, landscaping and architecture projects in the City of Logan.

Creative new businesses and influential community events will also be considered.

Urban planners, designers, business owners and event organisers whose efforts are contributing to the vibrant cultural lifestyle of the city are encouraged to apply.

Projects completed - or new businesses opened - since 2020 are eligible.

Economic Development Chair, Councillor Jon Raven said Council was proud to promote and endorse clever and creative urban design and lifestyle initiatives through LUDA.

He said Council's 2022 Urban Design Framework outlined its commitment to support and guide high quality public planning across the city.

"Council is determined to deliver and support projects and events that inspire people and make our local communities even better places to live," Cr Raven said.

"These awards are an important opportunity to celebrate the talent and creativity of Logan's design and business communities and I encourage them to continue aiming high."

The reimagined Jimboomba Central shopping centre claimed the top gong at the 2020 LUDA (held in March 2021 because of pandemic restrictions).

The project, designed by Interlandi Mantesso Architects and developed by the Zagame Corporation and Pellicano Developments, was lauded for its strong sense of identity and generous use of space.

LUDA is sponsored by Epoca Constructions, Collins, Biggers & Paisley Lawyers, Lendlease, Brick N Pave, Bligh Tanner and Archipelago.
