The Smart Energy Council – the peak independent body for Australia's renewable energy and renewable hydrogen industry - is pleased to announce Terri Butler, the former Federal Member for Griffith and Shadow Environment Minister has joined its Board.

"I am honoured to join the Board of the Smart Energy Council," said Terri Butler. "I greatly admire the Smart Energy Council's bold and effective advocacy and I look forward to working with my fellow Directors to help build Australia's smart energy future."

"The Smart Energy Council is honoured to have Terri Butler join the Board. Her parliamentary, legal and workplace relations experience and policy expertise will be a valuable addition to the expertise of current Board members," said Steve Blume, President of the Smart Energy Council.

Ms Butler was the Federal Member for Griffith from 2014-2022 and was Shadow Environment and Water Minister from 2019 until the 2022 federal election. Ms Butler is currently the Chair of Circular Australia, an independent not-for-profit company accelerating the transition to a circular economy.

Ms Butler fills a casual vacancy created by the resignation of long-time Director, Geoff Bragg. Mr Bragg is a highly experienced solar installer and one of Australia's leading solar and battery storage trainers.

"The Smart Energy Council thanks Geoff Bragg for his many years of service to Australia's solar industry and to the Council. I know he will continue to support the solar industry in the professional and friendly way he always does," said Mr Blume.
