Detectives investigating a series of armed robberies of brothels in Sydney’s south west earlier this year have charged a third teenager, NSW Police say.
Just before 2am on Monday 15 January 2018, three men – one armed with a firearm – entered a business on Birmingham Road, Villawood.
The men allegedly threatened employees, before stealing cash and mobile phones.
During the incident, a 56-year-old man was assaulted. He sustained minor injuries to his arms and lip.
In a separate incident, about 3am, three men – one armed with a firearm – entered a business on Lancaster Street, Ingleburn.
They allegedly threatened a 58-year-old male employee, before taking cash and fleeing the scene.
Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Moogerah to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incidents.
A 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were previously charged by strike force detectives. They remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, a 17-year-old boy was served a Future Court Attendance Notice at a juvenile justice centre at Campbelltown about 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 22 November 2018).
The boy remains in custody to appear at a children’s court on two counts of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon on Wednesday 9 January 2019.
