Three Youths Charged Over Armed Robberies in Melbourne's East

Eastern Region Crime Squad detectives have charged three teenagers as part of an investigation into an alleged string of crimes across Melbourne's East this week.

A group of up to six teenagers entered a fast-food restaurant on Whitehorse Road in Nunawading about 2.20am on Tuesday 13 June.

It is alleged they threatened staff with knives, stole cash and damaged the front window, before fleeing the scene in two vehicles.

The teenagers allegedly entered another fast-food restaurant on Burwood Highway in Vermont South and threatened staff with weapons.

One of the vehicles was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary at a property on Fermanagh Road in Camberwell on 11 June.

Three teenagers were arrested yesterday and have been charged with a number of offences.

A 15-year-old teen from Springvale South has been charged with:

• 2 x armed robbery

• 2 x handle stolen goods

• 2 x deal with the proceeds of crime

• theft of motor vehicle

• commit an indictable offence on bail.

A 13-year-old Doveton teen has been charged with:

• robbery

• theft of motor vehicle

• 2 x handle stolen goods

• 2 x deal with the proceeds of crime

• commit indictable offence on bail.

A 16-year-old Cranbourne teen has been charged with:

• theft of motor vehicle

• 2 x handle stolen goods

• 2 x deal with the proceeds of crime

• commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The trio have been remanded in custody to appear at a children's court at a later date.

Investigations are ongoing to identify the other individuals involved.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate two aggravated burglaries overnight on 11 June.

It is understood teenagers broke into a property on Fermanagh Road in Camberwell and stole three vehicles.

Investigators were also told two vehicles were taken from a property on Lesay Court in Mount Waverley between the hours of 11pm and 6am on 11 June.

Detectives are also appealing for information as they continue to investigate a string of further offences in the area including:

- Two businesses were broken into on Matthews Road in Bentleigh East about 3.15am on 12 June.

- Reports of a robbery at a fast-food restaurant on High Street Road in Glen Waverley about 4am on 12 June

- A robbery at a fast-food restaurant on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough about 4am on 12 June.

- There was a robbery at a fast-food restaurant on Princes Highway in Eumemmering in the early hours of 13 June

There were no injuries in any of the incidents and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
