Top US, Kazakhstan Officials Hold Diplomatic Talks

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister-Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu on September 24 in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly High-Level week. Deputy Secretary Landau discussed increasing opportunities for bilateral trade and investment between the United States and Kazakhstan in the fields of critical minerals and emerging technologies. The United States looks forward to the next round of its Enhanced Strategic Partnership Dialogue, continued cooperation with Kazakhstan in addressing illegal migration, expanding commercial ties, and commemorating ten years of enhanced engagement through the C5+1 diplomatic platform this year, which represents the United States "plus" the five Central Asian countries (the C5 - Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan).
