Toyota Motor North America, Inc., Toyota's North American headquarters, today announced an investment of 3.6 billion USD in its San Antonio plant in Texas, including the establishment of a second vehicle assembly line.
The investment is aimed at further enhancing Toyota's locally rooted and competitive production system.
The newly established line is scheduled to begin operations in 2030 and is expected to create over 2,000 new jobs and increase annual production capacity at the plant by approximately 150,000 units.
In addition, the production of the Tacoma mid-size pickup will be transferred from the Baja California plant (TMMBC plant) in Mexico to the San Antonio plant over an approximate four-year period.
The investment represents Toyota's "best-company-in-town" approach―contributing to the local community and continuing offering diverse options tailored to local needs through a multi-pathway approach.
