Trio arrested in stolen car, South Australia

Three have been arrested after a pursuit in a stolen car through Elizabeth last night.

About 9.20pm on Thursday 4 November, police saw a grey VW Jetta travelling on Goodman Road. Patrols attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver refused to stop the car and continued south on Kettering Road.

Checks revealed the registration plates were stolen from a Somerton Park address earlier in the week.

The car was pursued onto Bayer Road, Grainger Road and then onto Kettering Road and Phillip Highway.

Just before 9.40pm PolAir took over the pursuit and tracked the car through Elizabeth Grove and Gulfview Heights. During the chase the car was seen to drive dangerously and on the wrong side of Philip Highway and Main North Road at Eliizabeth Grove.

Ten minutes later the vehicle was successfully spiked at the intersection of Bridge Road and Wynn Vale Drive at Gulfview Heights. The car continued onto McIntrye Road where it came to a stop.

Patrols converged on the car and arrested the driver, a 27-year-old man from Royal Park, and two passengers, a 33-year-old man from Elizabeth South and a 30-year-old man from Davoren Park.

All three were charged with illegal use, the driver was further charged with driving dangerously to escape a police pursuit and driving whilst being disqualified.

Further checks revealed the VW Jetta was stolen from a Royal Park address earlier in the evening. The car was towed from the scene.

The trio were granted police bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.
