Tomsk State University has strengthened its position in all the RUR ranking criteria and took 103rd place among the world’s universities. In the overall ranking of Russian universities, TSU takes 3rd place, after MSU (91st place) and MEPhI (101st place), and in the Teaching ranking, takes 49th in the world.
The overall ranking score is made up of assessments of four complex indicators.
Among the strongest universities in the world, TSU ranks 49th in Teaching ranking, one of the most significant criteria for the overall ranking. For 6 years, the university has been improving its positions in the highest (Diamond) league this indicator. The International Diversity ranking is also growing: here the university has risen from 126th position to 109th.
– High positions and constant growth in the ranking are the results of the university’s participation in Project 5-100 and, above all, the strategy of involving staff in the processes of transformation and growth; a positive effect from the implementation of the key educational features of TSU as a classical university;, a focus on fundamental training; research competence;ies, and our characteristic individualization of learning. That is why, according to the criterion of the Teaching ranking, we are in 49th place in the world, – comments Artyom Rykun, TSU Vice-Rector for International Relations. – High indicators in the International Diversity ranking are provided by the efforts of the university both with external partners and work with promising country areas: Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Uzbekistan, France, Italy, and the Netherlands, and internal transformations: a well-functioning system that includes internationalization at home, volunteers, the buddies system, the English-speaking media environment, and talent, resource, and soft power work.
The income of the university also increased, which was reflected in the positions in the Financial Sustainability ranking: TSU moved from 358th place to the 292nd. TSU ranks 270 in the Research ranking (last year it was 301).
In total, RUR-2021 included 867 universities from 74 countries of the world, including other Tomsk universities: TPU (375th place), Siberian State Medical University (624), TSPU (654), TUSUR (682), and TSUAB (801).
