290 library workers across Christchurch will get a pay rise to reflect the "true value" of their work, despite the abrupt cancellation of their pay equity claim, due to a strong commitment to pay equity from Christchurch City Council. Care workers at the country's largest provider of Māori-based support for people with disabilities have reached an agreement with their employer that will avert strike action and their suspension without pay. The postal workers union says a new return-to-sender policy will have a negative effect on hospital patients and medical services, as some post may not reach its intended destination.
