We welcome two new research assistants to SUM: Wei Guo and Elin Bergstrøm.
Wei Guo (Vivian) joined MultiChina project and the research group Governance for Sustainable Development.
Wei Guo has an interdisciplinary Master's degree in Culture, Environment and Sustainability from SUM. Her master's thesis focused on the Chinese discourse of ecological modernization and sustainable development. She has interests in green development, social entrepreneurship, international cooperation on SDGs, corporate governance and green finance, and The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). She has previously contributed an article to Tvergastein (2016) on BRI - "Paving the New Silk Road with Green Finance: Challenges and Opportunities", and worked on the project ´sustainable finance and investment´ at World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Norway. She has also been a consultant, working with both public and private sector, advising and promoting green business and investment and international collaboration between China and the Nordics.
"I am happy to be back at SUM and excited to contribute to the MultiChina project, working with a lot of knowledgeable experts. I hope to be able to help bring greater attention to and knowledge of Chinese influence and perspectives on global governance and international cooperation, as well as understanding of the ESG aspects of Chinese overseas business and investment. I also hope to facilitate research communication and knowledge transfer between various stakeholders and the public. At the same time, I would like to act as a link between Chinese and Nordic regions and Eastern and Western culture. I look forward to all of the things we will be able to learn from each other."
Elin Bergstrøm joined the research group Global Health Politics and coordinates several projects and groups, including The Collective for the Political Determinants of Health, PANPREP and the SMARTCOVID project. Elin holds a MSc in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University and a BA in Human Geography from the University of Oslo. She has previously worked four years as a Policy Officer at EAT, a non-profit organization working to transform the global food system. Elin has also worked for Young Friends of the Earth Europe, a network of youth organizations working for social and environmental justice, and for the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR), where she supported the development of an authoritative chronology of COVID-19 related events, actions, and recommendations from December 2019 to March 2020.
