UN Rights Chief Türk Visiting Colombia Jan 2023

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk today begins a two-day official mission to Colombia, at the invitation of the Government.

During his visit, the High Commissioner will meet senior Government and other officials, civil society representatives, human rights defenders, as well as representatives of indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, and members of the international community.

Türk will also attend an event hosted by Ambassador of Sweden, Helena Storm, in Bogotá to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Throughout 2023, the High Commissioner and the UN Human Rights Office will hold and attend events to celebrate the UDHR at 75, as well as the 30th anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action that led to the setting up of the UN Human Rights Office.

At the end of his mission, on 25 January, the High Commissioner will hold a news conference in Bogotá at approximately 18:30 local time. Access will be strictly limited to accredited media.
