Unlawful Use Of Motor Vehicle Offences At Ipswich 6 May

Police have charged two people after an alleged stolen vehicle was tracked from the Gold Coast to Ipswich yesterday, 5 May.

It will be alleged on 27 April that a white 2025 Toyota Hilux was reported stolen from a Brisbane Airport business.

Around 12:30pm yesterday, the Hilux was spotted in Mudgeeraba by PolAir,and was then tracked into the Logan area.

Around 1pm, a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on the vehicle at Meadowbrook. It was then further tracked through Logan and into the Ipswich area along the Centenary Motorway.

Around 1:15pm, the vehicle lost control and crashed at the roundabout intersection of the Centenary Motorway and Ripley Road, Ripley, with the vehicle's two occupants initially fleeing but were taken into custody nearby.

Additional emergency services were required nearby due to several spot fires allegedly caused by the vehicle's manner of driving.

A 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Karalee, have since been charged.

The 23-year-old man was charged with two counts of stealing, and one count each of obstruct police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicenced driving, unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on 26 May.

The 22-year-old woman was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is expected to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on 28 May.
