UNSC Experts Shed Light on North Kivu Mineral Origins

On 15 December 2023, the Group of Experts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo transmitted its midterm report to the President of the Security Council (document S/2023/990). In this connection, the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004) concerning the Democratic Republic of the Congo wishes to draw attention to paragraph 103(e) of the report in which the Group of Experts recommends that the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo "work with transit and destination countries of minerals originating from Rubaya, to align the supply chain with the Group's due diligence guidelines (see paras. 60-65 [of the report])".
