Updated Activities Associated Direction 25 February, South Australia

The Emergency Management (Activities Associated No 19) (COVID-19) Direction 2022 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Activities Associated No 20) (COVID-19) Direction 2022. This Direction comes into effect at 12.01am on 26 February 2022.

Key changes include:

HOSPITALITY

Buffets are now permitted in all hospitality venues.

The following density requirements apply for indoor venues:

  • Standing consumption — 1 person per 2 square metres
  • Seated consumption — 3 people per 4 square metres
  • Combined standing and seated consumption — 1 person per 2 square metres

PRIVATE FUNCTION

Private function held at relevant licensed premises and premises with an ongoing Iiquor license:

  • 1 person per 2 square metres.
  • Maximum of 150 people.
  • Dancing permitted (maximum of 50 people on the dancefloor at any time).
  • Singing permitted.
  • Standing consumption permitted.

A private function means only privately booked events and NOT commercial operations conducted by licensed premises. For example, the above requirements for private functions do not apply to a hotel selling 150 tickets for live performances.

PRIVATE ACTIVITY

A private activity means a gathering greater than 50 people and no more than 150that is held at a place other than a relevant licensed premises or premises with an ongoing liquor license.

The following density requirements apply:

  • 1 person per 2 square metres.
  • Maximum of 150 people.
  • Dancing permitted (maximum of 50 people on the dancefloor at any time).
  • Singing permitted.
  • Standing consumption permitted.

OUTDOOR EVENTS

The following density requirements apply to an entertainment activity that is not a hospitality activity:

  • Outdoor seated consumption — no density restriction.
  • Outdoor combined standing and seated consumption — 3 people per 4 square metres.

Other existing requirements remain.
