- Classrooms and outdoor areas to be upgraded at Camboon Primary School in Perth's northern suburbs
- $250,000 project to be completed by the end of the year
Work has started on $250,000 of upgrades at Camboon Primary School in Noranda, which will improve facilities inside and outside of the classroom.
To make learning areas more flexible and innovative, several classrooms will have their aged concertina doors removed and replaced with more modern sliding doors with whiteboard surfaces.
In the pre-primary outdoor area, several aged pergolas will be removed to make way for a new paved and shaded outdoor learning space with seating for students.
A new covered outdoor area will also be created for upper primary students, including a limestone wall for seating.
The upgrade works are expected to be completed for the beginning of the 2019 school year.
As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:
"This investment reinforces the State Government's commitment to providing first-class learning areas for students.
"While we are committed to building new schools in growing areas, we are also investing in established schools so students can continue to learn in the best possible environments.
"These upgrade works will provide teachers with more modern and flexible areas for their lessons, and will inspire student collaboration and creativity in and outside of the classroom."
As stated by Morley MLA Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"I'm so pleased these works are underway. These formed part of a number of important election commitments to improve the infrastructure of local schools.
"We want to make sure our local kids have the best possible learning facilities."
