USAID Administrator Samantha Power meets UK's Minister of State for Development and Africa Andrew Mitchell

USAID

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with the United Kingdom's Minister of State for Development and Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Andrew Mitchell. The two discussed efforts to counter transnational corruption, support climate adaptation, USAID's Democracy Delivers initiative, approach to the People's Republic of China (PRC)'s involvement in development, and humanitarian and development assistance initiatives, particularly those in the drought stricken regions of the Horn of Africa.

Building on the recent Summit for Democracy Cohort on Financial Transparency Integrity (FTI), both Minster Mitchell and Administrator Power discussed opportunities to expand issues around USAID's FTI Accelerator, a program which will direct programmatic resources and technical assistance toward issues that the Cohort identified as priorities in preventing and responding to transnational corruption.
