USAID Chief Power Holds Talks with Mongolia's PM Oyun-Erdene

Today, Administrator Samantha Power met with Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene to discuss progress and future areas of collaboration in the U.S.-Mongolia development partnership. Administrator Power highlighted USAID's longstanding and expanding support to the people of Mongolia, including the signing of a new bilateral assistance agreement, valued at up to $25 million over the next five years.

Administrator Power and Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene discussed the importance of working together to strengthen democratic governance, mitigate the devastating impacts of climate change, bolster food security, and advance inclusive economic growth. Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene underscored his commitment to expanding educational opportunity and people-to-people ties between the U.S. and Mongolia, and highlighted the Mongolian people's strong democratic aspirations. Administrator Power and Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene also discussed opportunities for further strengthening of Mongolia's disaster resilience, human capital, and small- and medium-sized enterprises.
