UTA Earns Texas Environmental Leadership Award

The University of Texas at Arlington has earned the Texas Environmental Leadership Award from the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) for excellence in environmental education and superior material recovery.

The Texas Environmental Leadership Award (TELA) program honors individuals, communities, organizations and businesses whose programs advance recycling, composting, sustainable materials management, public education and outreach, and environmental special events. It recognizes contributions that build a more sustainable and economically resilient Texas.

"We are deeply honored to be recognized by the Texas Environmental Leadership Awards alongside so many inspiring peers," said Meghna Tare, UT Arlington's chief sustainability officer. "This award reflects not just one program or initiative; it celebrates the collective commitment of our community to sustainable materials management, meaningful outreach and bold innovation in recycling and stewardship."

"These awards celebrate the people and organizations shaping a circular economy that benefits all Texans."

The TELA program includes categories highlighting successes in education, partnerships, innovation and leadership among individuals, nonprofits, local governments and educational institutions.
