Victoria names Marsh Cup squad for Sunday

Tom Rogers and Tom O'Donnell could make their Victorian debuts after being included in a 14-player squad to take on South Australia in the Marsh Cup.

The match looms as a do-or-die fixture, with the winner to progress to the Marsh Cup Final held in Perth against Western Australia on March 8.

Rogers has played 15 Big Bash League matches for the Melbourne Stars and has excelled at Victorian Premier Cricket level.

Over the past three seasons for Ringwood, Rogers has scored over 2,000 runs at an average of 69.

O'Donnell, 26, is a former Australia U19 representative and has previously been a rookie-listed player with Victoria.

The left-arm fast bowler was a replacement player for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League and has performed strongly for club side Essendon, taking 29 wickets at 16.93 this season.

"This match is effectively a preliminary final, playing in pressure matches like this is what you set out to do at the start of the season," Cricket Victoria's Head of Male Cricket, David Hussey said.

"We're not quite sure if Fergus O'Neill will recover in time after rolling his ankle in the Shield match, Sam Elliott has been added to the squad as cover and we'll make a decision on that before flying on Saturday.

"The group will take huge confidence from the Sheffield Shield win, but South Australia are certainly not to be taken lightly, they've been very strong all season in this competition."
