Campaspe Shire Council is pleased to announce the completion of the multi‑year Victoria Park Boat Ramp Upgrade, a major infrastructure investment designed to provide a safer, more accessible launch and retrieval point on the Murray River.

Part of the broader Victoria Park Master Plan, the upgrade supports a wide range of river users, including anglers, campers, water skiers, house‑boaters, canoeists, jet skiers, powerboat enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the project delivered extensive improvements across the precinct, enhancing safety, accessibility, and overall visitor experience.

"The completed upgrades have provided facilities that meet modern standards and support a growing range of recreational activities," he said.

"We know that locals and visitors alike love spending time on and in our wonderful Murray River in a variety of ways, and this project ensures that everyone can have access to those experiences."

Key project works included:

  • Upgraded boat ramp and infrastructure
  • Installation of an all‑abilities walkway and floating dock with a crane to support all‑ability access
  • Construction of new retaining walls
  • New electric barbecue and wheelchair‑accessible picnic tables
  • Bike maintenance and e-bike charging station, plus dedicated bike racks
  • Landscaping upgrades between the river and car park
  • Traffic improvements to enhance vehicle movement and ease congestion.

Funding totalling $2million for stages one to four of the five-stage project was provided by Council in conjunction with external funding partners including Better Boating Victoria and the Universal Design Funding Round 2022, while stage five was fully funded by Council at a cost of $651,000.

Despite temporary delays caused by the significant flooding event in 2022, the project remained focused on delivering long‑term benefits for the community and reached completion in February this year.

Council extends its thanks to project partners, contractors, and the community for their patience and collaboration throughout the construction phases.
