Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage in relation to a hit-run collision in Heidelberg West on Saturday, 1 August.
Emergency services were called to reports a man had been struck by a car on Blackwood Parade about 7.30pm.
Investigators were told a man was struck by his Black Honda SUV as he attempted to prevent an unknown female from stealing the car, about 7.30pm.
The offender drove away in the stolen Honda and both are yet to be located.
A 68-year-old Heidelberg West man was transported to hospital, where he remains, with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives have released vision of a woman who was in the vicinity at the time and who may be able to assist with the investigation.
